Fundamental Nursing Skills 2 continues from Fundamental Nursing Skills 1 developing students clinical knowledge and skills with a focus on patient comfort cares. Students will be introduced to the many ways nurses can promote comfort cares to their patients. These cares will include the complete hygiene cares required for a patient in a hospital setting. They will then be introduced to performing risk assessment and prevention of patient complications, screening for nutritional status,and performing pain assessment. Students will also be taught safe handing and mobilization of a patient including risk assessment.
This course will introduce students to fundamental concepts of ethical decision-making in clinical practice. The focus is on values clarification, ethical theory, ethical decision-making models, and professional ethical standards. The emphasis is on ethical obligations of professional nurses in their roles as citizens and members of the nursing profession.
Building on Physical Examination 1, this course will enable students to become proficient with examination techniques for the remaining systems of the body including the musculoskeletal system, the vascular system, the nervous system, and the reproductive system of the body. Students will learn and gain practice in the required assessment skills of body systems in the simulation laboratory before they go to providing care to the patients.
This course will introduce students to laws and regulations that are fundamental to safe professional nursing practice. There will be an emphasis on the scope of practice for nurses and standards of practice for nurses in Cambodia as guiding documents for practice. Students will also be introduced to the Cambodian Council of Nurses who oversee the registration and licensing processes required for graduate nurses to be able to legally practice their profession. They also oversee the continuing professional development requirements for professional nurses’ relicensing process.
Human Pathology is the study of disease. The courses are designed to provide students with an understanding of the consequences of pathologic processes on the structure and function of the human body. Human Pathology 2 will introduce students to diseases related to the cardiovascular system as well as disorders that occur in the electrical system of the heart and cardiac disorders that can occur congenitally. This will be followed by an introduction to common diseases of the hematological and lymphatic systems of the body and finally, students will be introduced to disease processes that occur throughout the digestive system. Each body system will be introduced with a brief revision of the relevant anatomy and physiology.
This course introduces students to the nursing process and the principles of critical thinking and problem-solving which underpin safe nursing practice. Skills required for improving critical thinking and decision-making are discussed along with strategies to improve critical thinking through the use of case studies. Students will study the nursing process in detail using critical thinking skills to improve the care of their patients.

Human Pathology 1 will introduce students to disturbances in hemodynamics of fluid and electrolytes. They will also be introduced to disease processes related to the muscular skeletal system including inflammatory processes and injury and disease processes related to the respiratory system. Each body system will be introduced with a brief revision of the relevant anatomy and physiology.
In this course, students will focus on learning the basics of English medical terminology. It will assist them to build their English medical vocabulary to a standard where they will be able to communicate successfully in clinical settings.
Anatomy and Physiology 3 reinforces nursing students' understanding of the relationships between the structures and functions of the human body. In this course, students will mainly focus on four major systems of the body. They will further enhance the understanding of the structure and function of the eye and the ear, nose, and throat systems and the interrelationship between these structures of the body. They will be able to explain the relationship and significances of the integumentary system of the human body as well as the structure and function of the lymphatic system. The final major body system students will study in this course is the structure and function of the nervous system and its related organs.
This course will provide instructions in medical terminology in French at a basic level. It includes the prefixes and suffixes common in medicine and will assist students to build their French medical vocabulary to be able to communicate in clinical settings.
